Doesn’t she already deal with a chronic illness? Risking long term damage or even just exacerbating that… In the absence of decent ventilation or any other mitigations, touring musicians are almost guaranteed to lose COVID roulette. Just constantly hot boxing every respiratory illness circulating.

Right. You’d think maybe she would understand the importance of protecting others’ immune systems but I guess not.

I had long Covid nearly 3 years to the point I thought I had chronic fatigue syndrome. I lost so much because I couldn’t get out of bed.

She can go fuck herself. Just another time a rich fuck shows they don’t care cause when she’s sick she has all the money in the world and access to the best doctors.

Yep. But she's not the first person I've seen with a chronic illness decide that covid isn't serious and just go back to regular life with no mitigations.

Yep! One of my close friends is immunocompromised and literally didn't take COVID seriously at all.

When news about the vaccines came out and I expressed that I would be going ASAP, she looked so confused.

I asked her if she was going to get vaccinated. She legitimately said: "Why would I? I don't get the flu vaccine, either." 🤦‍♂️

It's kind of odd that we are even friends, almost 20 years now, considering we disagree on a lot of things.

I'm an atheist and she is Irish Catholic, for one. We just don't talk about religion.

I also mentioned climate change recently and she had a weird response, so I know she doesn't believe that, either. I just changed the subject. Not worth it.

Examples of this would come up on that Herman Cain Award subreddit a lot, people with multiple risky comorbidities. One that sticks in my memory was a guy that was an organ donation recipient, was presumably on immunosuppressants and anti-rejection medications, but was anti-vax, anti-mask, the whole deal. Caught COVID and died.

My friend's parents were sadly like this; they both had health issues and refused to get vaccinated because they drank the right-wing anti vax koolaid. Both got COVID, both ended up in the hospital for weeks. Her dad made it out and mom didn't. It makes me so mad on my friend's behalf that she has to live the rest of her life without her mom now because republicans don't fucking believe in science
