ALLEDGELYThis is too long for ONTD to read, in short MHJ was audited and found to be trying to leave Hybe and take NewJeans with her. More correspondence was discovered which was pretty damning. MHJ did a press conference that won over the general public. These new statements have her showing her ass, and in part laying out a plan to fool the ( Read more... )

Actual transcripts of these messages have not been released and the main source of the "reconstruction" is Lee Jin-Ho who has a tonne of controversies regarding his dubious claims about k-celebs. I would say search Twitter to find more about his controversies and who he has targeted, but BTS stans are glazing him so hard over these MHJ messages that all of a sudden most of what you find is that he's a super trustworthy Pulitzer-quality reporter.

Anyway, whatever the context of these messages is it doesn't look good, but I don't think it really makes a difference to the legal case so it is just another smear tactic. Will it work? Maybe. It's pretty scummy. I'll wait to see what the apparent context is of the *actual messages* before making a call. I certainly would not take anything Lee Jin-Ho states as fact at face value.

Too many people are letting their fan biases overcome them, and even though I don't think MHJ is some paragon of creativity who isn't worthy of criticism, I do think the tone of a lot of the hate directed at her is just bald-faced misogyny.

i think that she was worthy of defending with regards to the illit plagiarism, because it appears she feels she is/was treated terribly by the men running hybe and if i were her and saw stark similarities to my gg and another based under the same label i'd be shitty about it, too. a lot of people hate her for the lolita vibes she seems to be so fond of, though. not dismissing that some people are acting misogynistic to her bc they definitely are but they're so valid for disliking her for her weird proximity to young girls, taemin, etc

For that reason I think she is, too, because she tried to resolve it privately - the only reason anyone knows about it is because HYBE retaliated with an audit.

I agree people disliking her for the Lolita stuff is valid - I also don't like it, but it's a separate issue from the current case for me, but it's obviously a reason some people legitimately hate/criticise her.

i do get what you're saying but in my opinion i don't believe the lolita stuff is all that separate from this current case. if anything, it clearly indicates her history of grooming young idols and weaves through all of her actions as of late. she's groomed the girls (emotionally and sexually if you want to count 'cookie') and has groomed the parents, also. making them believe that she's the only one who knows what is best for them is intricately connected to all of her past behaviours. i don't think we can say that it exists in a vacuum

To me that's a leap - it's really based on a lot of assumptions. I don't know enough about what NJ and their parents truly think to say anything about grooming with conviction - people are looking at Lolita style and jumping to this conclusion because of the look and story of Lolita. There's nothing conrete here. It's not like MHJ and NJ are the only idols to use this concept or they constantly push it, and I think the problem really is the ever decreasing age of idols in general - idols are always sexualised, so young members naturally are, too, because that's the game.

I do agree that it's a smear tactic and pretty irrelevant to the case from a legal standpoint, but ngl I'm glad some people are finally seeing through her "Mommy" act cuz this woman is just as money hungry as any other CEO and seeing people kiss her ass and call her "NJ's honorary member" was nauseating lol.

For real. The honorary member/mother thing is just another kind of mediaplay, using the groups' success to raise her capital etc. I'm sure NJ will always be special to her, but in a few years when she launches another mega successful group she'll probably be their honorary member, too.
