Disney’s first go with X-Men 97 was considered to be one of the best X-adaptations in years.

Fox had some really good stuff but they were very inconsistent. They botched Dark Phoenix twice.

Not necessarily. Based on the ending of The Marvels and what’s going on with Fantastic Four they’ll likely start off in their own self contained universe.

There is 1000% potential to make better X-Men films. While I think the first two movies are fantastic, there's still a lot they got wrong about certain characters (namely Storm and Cyclops, who wholeheartedly deserve better live action depictions).

That said, X-2 is a near perfect film imo, and they should look to it as a blueprint (as well as X-Men 97).

Rogue, Storm, Mystique, and Nightcrawler deserved better. Honestly they nailed Cyclops lol. I do still enjoy those first two movies and like half of first class.

*The casting was fine for all but Storm but they just threw away their backstories.
