She recently revealed that Bobby will be 21 in Season 2 of the King of the Hill revival. Maybe he'll be that old in Season 1 as well, I don't know.

Not sure how I feel about that.

I was surprised to learn they're already working on season 2!

It's good to know we won't just have one season!

Unless that first season is trash.

Yeah, it was established the reboot would be after a time jump, but we didn’t know how many years. Her mentioning bobby is 21 is the first time we got more of a time frame.

I’m curious about young adult Bobby and company, but I’m concerned about what they’ll do with (or without) Dale.

Part of me is wondering if there's one time jump in the first season of the reboot, to something more high school aged, and then a second time jump in the second season, to 21 year old Bobby, and the reason they would have TWO jumps is to remove Dale from the canvas more organically.

That’s an interesting idea!

I think they confirmed that the voice actor for Dale was able to work on 4 eps before he died and he mentioned on his Twitter actors he thought could voice Dale.

I've also seen some people theorizing they could have Dale lose his voice due to his smoking and would have to talk with a voice box.

I’m usually good with recasting voices, but Hardwick’s Dale was so specific and integral… But I also can’t imagine KOTH without Dale for the same reasons.

He's also a chef at a fusion restaurant in Dallas. I'm a little sad he didn't end up in comedy.

He might still be trying to break in and the chef-ing is how he can pay the bills!

But i can also completely see him enjoying being a chef and Hank being able to tell himself that Bobby grills for a living lol.

Bobby likely does sets, though, in his time off, still trying to get his big break.

Omg I'm SO excited to see adult Bobby!!! I've always thought that he was a magical little boy and would thrive as a free adult able to pursue whatever he wanted in his life :)

I’ve been rewatching King of The Hill and I was wondering if they would age everyone up for the revival. And will they recast the voices for Dale and Luanne? Johnny Hardwick and Brittany Murphy sounded so specific, it will be weird if they do, but also I can’t really imagine KOTH without them. Thank god Cotton is dead, though.

I am 99.9% positive that they've already stated that they will not be recasting Luanne and Lucky.

Dale's situation is unique. Johnny made it through 4 episodes before he passed. I liked what one user suggested, having something happen where Dale ends up needing a voice box because of all of his smoking. It would be an authentic, organic way, with characterization, for him having such a different voice.

At the same time, I think I would ultimately rather prefer that they killed Dale off.

I like the voice box idea. I don’t want him killed off - he’s such an integral part of that group, and the main one who gets them into scrapes all the time. I guess Bill does too, to a lesser extent, but still.

Also random aside: I can’t remember if he ever found out that John Redcorn was Joseph’s father. I imagine Joseph grown up will look just like him.

Joseph did not find out about his true paternity, at least not explicitly. He's also not the brightest bulb, so I don't doubt that he's still in the dark, unless someone point blank tells him.
