When asked about what he would say to someone who might not watch Strike because of their feelings for JKR: "If you want to watch it, watch it. If you don't then don't... I feel complicated about the idea ( Read more... )

Considering trans people is all JKR ever tweets about, I wonder what this friendship with her consists of. She's completely obsessed, how can you be friendly with a person like that? He simply is another yes-man who doesn't care about the paradox of tolerance when he says that he refuses to pick a side and wants everyone to just get along/'want this to mend'.

Tbh I can see her being able to keep a mask on at work. I think on some level she probably does compartmentalize her online activities but that doesn’t give people around her the license to pretend it isn’t happening.

I lot of people will rage in social media and the internet but be completely silent on issues amongst friends and family. I think her in twitter is just her being overly emotional on a big platform because she feels like she’s getting her message across because the entire world can see it

She's been so extreme with it all that I can't imagine her not constantly going off the rails tbh. But I suppose it'd be harder to find people willing to contradict your stances on these things when you're filthy rich and probably only surround yourself with people who nod their heads at whatever you say. I don't think she'd stay silent if anyone in her direct surroundings talked about these issues but then again I haven't seen her in interviews or know what she's like beyond twitter.

The rumor mill for awhile has suggested that she honestly doesn’t have many personal relationships anymore, even with her family, so this is probably true. She has literally nothing else going on other than tweeting 24/7. Wouldn’t surprise if she barely even writes anymore.

I don’t have Twitter, but does she really post that much?

It’s near constant. She will even repeatedly go after people. One time she bullied an ally for like two weeks straight.

That’s so weird. I don’t follow her, but I can’t imagine being a busy billionaire and still finding time to do that.

That wouldn't surprise me. She really seems hyper focused on her hate and I doubt she wants to hear from anyone who doesn't constantly kiss her ass and validate her beliefs.

He wasn’t actually talking about being friends with Rowling, I think the OP or Twitter got that part wrong - the parenthesis aren’t in the original Guardian article.

He was talking about still being friends with people he talks about the issue of boycott with.

Thanks for the correction! I did think he was maybe exaggerating about being friends with JKR but this makes more sense.

Saying that he wants everyone to get along and being friends with her is completely contradictory. I couldn't be friends with someone so vile, so he's obviously more concerned about keeping this job
