Some of the tweets I’ve seen highlight the parts of the article about him smoking weed inside his trailer while everyone was waiting or him not having a clear direction and not accepting advices, I didn’t add all of it because I didn’t want the post to be too long and I focused on the worst part, the sexual harassment

Reading stuff like this, I’m not surprised at all why some directors don’t get funding. Film twitter will cry about the cinema “dying” but will completely blind themselves and/or hand waves the obvious self-made issues standing in the way of these legendary directors.

With this context seeing old directors like get bitter about MCU and big movies + getting immediate funding but lol like say what you will those movies get shit done on time and come with a plan. Even Marty will ask for astronomical budgets but lol he comes with a plan and finishes!

Tbh Marty also frontloads his films' budget with money for his muses like Leo and DeNiro. I was talking about this with a friend yesterday. Meanwhile Denis and Nolan are cheaper than Marty, BUT, they push for their films to be released in theaters because they know that their stars need those residuals.

I happen to think that some movies have a bloated budget but a lot of us hand wave why some movies and directors are cheaper than others.

Lol he still doesn’t need that high budget for essentially non-action films. Those 3 to almost 4 hour runtime don’t help him either.
