May 13, 2024 I needed a tweet for an example of the ads, please don't be mad that it's some not a celebrity's or some official acct, thnx.
The dating app Bumble caught some flack this weekend for its new, controversial ad campaign in which it tells women to stop being celibate. It features bright yellow billboards with anti-celibacy captions such as "You know full well a vow of celibacy is not the answer," and "Thou
shalt not give up on dating and become a nun." One ad even features a woman under the covers in bed with a man.
The ad went viral and female users of the app responded with outrage, as the ad seems to shame women for their sexual choices, ignores the danger of sexual violence that women face when being intimate with a man from a dating app, and ignores the life-threatening consequences that a woman could face if she gets pregnant in a state without access to abortion.
Today, Bumble's CEO founder, Lidiane Jones Wendy Wolfe Jones, apologized in an Instagram comment, and a spokesperson said that the company will remove the billboards. They gave a b.s. non-apology that you can read at the source, blah, blah, blah.
