Rachel Zegler Responds to Criticism Over Celebrities Attending The Met Gala

May 10, 2024 18:18

this is not some kind of twitter stan issue and when it gets treated as such, it delegitimizes the reason for donating, for sharing information. when you decide to point fingers instead of educating, you make people afraid to speak- to say the wrong thing, to not say enough,

I just don’t understand why I see on tik tok people are now “over” celebrities and how the met gala put over the edge? Like they want all these famous people to speak about Palestine but you can’t force people , they could speak but ppl will still criticize them? So what do people want?

People want celebs to be their personal avatar or spokesperson. I think it’s an extension of the parasocial relationship concept.

It’s very if I like a celeb they now need to completely align with my beliefs and priorities and act how I’d act in certain situations which is pretty unrealistic. Obvs you want people to be good but lol you can’t every celeb to up to your standards.

It’s nice if a celebs happens to line up with your personality but you can’t force people to do things.

I think it's mad that you consider 'not backing a genocide' as an unrealistic expectation.

I think it’s unrealistic to act like some people don’t risk losing careers for saying or showing support especially if they’re not huge A-listers who are safe.

If you read my other comments, I said people should hold bigger celebs like Taylor, Beyoncé, and the like more to the fire cause they’re safe instead of lower-tier celebs.

And again whether you like it or not, you can’t force people to speak out on anything they don’t want to. Just like you have the choice to not follow or support anyone who doesn’t align with your belief or straight up don’t care.

You go so hard for rich people who don't know you exist. Though I guess you stan the British Royal family so I guess people not commenting on a genocide pales in comparison to people who literally built an empire on it.

Lol you’re so deep in this public spat. you can’t see anything outside of that. No one is even talking about the royals or H&M in this post but here you are bringing them up.

Girl go make a post if you wanna have discussions about.

In a post about rich people ignoring genocide, colonisation and displaying extortionate wealth I brought up the British Royal family who - iyo - have nothing to do with any of those things?

And you bring it to my comment where I didn’t even mention about the royals. And you specifically bring it to me as someone who constantly critiques H&M in said posts.

Have you posted those same questions to other users or just me lol.

I was proving the point that you will do exactly the same thing defending the more powerful while picking on the low hanging fruit and you took the bait beautifully. Thank you.

I haven't defended the royal family or any other big celebs.....and Prince Harry still isn't low-hanging fruit either lol. I've been basically saying the elite celebs should be criticized more since they have less to nothing to lose....

But if you want to make up your own conclusions, be my guest.

Like William and Charles who you STILL this many posts into your tantrum you refuse to criticise decisively.

Girl go read my previous comments again. Besides this conversation is over. Talking to you is like talking to a wall...nothing is getting through. Have a nice day or evening.

I've read them all, nowhere do you outright condemn William and Charles in decisive terms. It really shouldn't be this hard, but it doesn't surprise me. Your parasocial relationship with Royals probably makes you feel special.

Yeah they're not above criticism but there is a more powerful person who should be getting the heat more lol!!

Careful about mentioning Harry is a critical term girl you might get accused of being a royalist!1

People love protecting untouchable celebs which is ridiculous cause lol they're not gonna feel the fire anyway. If any of them came out for Palestine, yeah they'll get criticism and maybe even lose a 1M dollars or more but lol the others BILLIONS dollars they have will keep them warm at night haha!! I'm not crying if people attack my elite faves, like they'll be fine. But at the same time I can't expect or force someone to talk when they clearly don't want to. It is what it is.

"and IA with you, celebrity gossip is more fun when you realize they’re all terrible people you can’t control and watch them like you would watch a reality show. just stop supporting celebs whose beliefs don’t align with yours."And granted a lot of people will publicly say how they disavow their former faves but are clearly still following them on the ( ... )

The ones who expect celebs to live up to their unrealistic standards, don't even live up to those themselves.
Keyboard warriors who don't do a damn thing in the real world, but think having twitter fingers is changing the world.
