As a sports fan, it infuriates me how we pretend that false allegations are still presumably a thing, like the whole culture isn't rife with sexual abuse and these extremely rich extremely powerful men aren't protected in all ways from repercussions. I'm still seething over how the Mendy trial unfolded, and I've been sideeying the fuck out of various universally beloved figures who enabled that. This case is even more egregious because we're talking about abuse of a minor who's had her whole life marked by this, while the perpetrator got to live his life and only fall upwards since. I genuinely hope his name gets leaked and he faces public shaming, because I don't trust the justice system to do shit in these cases.

Anyway, anonymity is bullshit in these cases. UK media is still not allowed to name Thomas Partey's involvement in multiple sexual abuse cases because his bail has been extended like 3 times. Off the top of my head, there was a case just two weeks ago of two unnamed players being interrogated by the police after an alleged sexual assault took place on club grounds, and they couldn't be named either. I hate it here :)
