Grid for Sunday https://instagram.com/p/C6kCs0WNoG7 After 19 years, Adrian Newey Departs Red Bull
After so much goddamn speculation including Adrian Newey’s wife having to such down baseless quotes attributed to her husband, we finally learn that Adrian Newey will be departing Red Bull after 19 years. He will appear at a select few races for the remainder of the season. His next career move is speculated to be Ferrari after spotting some conversations with the Prancing Horse’s team principal, Fred Vasseur. It’s likely that Red Bull will not allow him to move to another team during this season or announce it.
Newey will continue working on the Red Bull hypercar’s project until its reveal in Goodwood.
Newey’s statement about his departure: ““However, I feel now is an opportune moment to hand that baton over to others and to seek new challenges for myself. In the interim, the final stages of development of RB17 are upon us, so for the remainder of my time with the team my focus will lie there.”

There’s been an ongoing battle for the legednery IndyCar and F1 champion to build an outfit to be the 11th team on the grid. Andretti was able to secure funding, a significant car backer in GM, and a factory in Silverstone. After another bid, Formula One Media (FOM) owned by U.S. media conglomerate Liberty Media denied the bid.
In January, FOM claimed that they didn’t believe Andretti would be a competitive team and that probably more mysteriously, the Andrettis overestimated how much value their name would bring to the sport. Did I mention Mario Andretti is a former F1 and Indy 500 champion? He’s also made apperances at US based circuits in partnership with F1. The third reason for the denial is that FOM doesn’t believe it to be feasible that Andretti with GM as a backer and a presence in other motorsport divisions could not put a car on the grid in the next two years. It’s important to note that the FIA approved Andretti’s bid.
FOM apparently is okay with GM joining if they become a works team for an already existing team and more than just a technical partner, but GM’s standing is solely Andretti.
Andretti after the denial said, “There’s an undercurrent I don’t quite understand, quite honestly, but if they want blood, well, I’m ready.”

https://sports.yahoo.com/mario-andretti-offended-f1-rejection-215745468.html Last week, a bipartisan group of 12 congressman are demanding Liberty Media reveal while Andretti and GM are being excluded and that anti-competitive actions were being taken to prevent American companies to join the sport. The lawmakers have involed the Sherman Antitrust Act, which is pretty significant.
Yes, there can be argument that Haas with its home based in North Carolina is an American team, however they are a Ferrari customer team with non-American drivers - they do have nice American sponsors though.

There’s no story here. I just realize it needed to be mentioned.
Guenther Steiner is suing Haas
Gworl, everybody getting sued… like Gene needs more legal trouble. After being terminated last season, Steiner is alleging that the team remains to profit from his likeness. Very American - he had to file suit in Haas’s hombase of North Carolina. The lawsuit “details a series of allegations including unpaid commissions and breach of terms in Steiner’s employement agreement, spanning from 2021 to 2023.”
Steiner’s suit cites the complicated issue of his popularity from the Netflix series Drive to Survive which has provided value to the team with engagement and revenue from sponsors.
