I think I remember seeing her room once at the beginning of her career and iirc she had a princess-like canopy.

You grew up in a silver-spoon gated community
Glamorous, shiny, bright Beverly Hills
I was raised on a farm, no, it wasn't a mansion
Just livin' room dancin' and kitchen table bills
Am I crazy? She clearly grew up in a mansion lmao

1- location and the cost of property. owning land in beverly hills vs rural PA. To most people owning property is an achievement, to rich people it depends where. The cost of her PA home is probably 30% of what a place the same size in BHills would be. That doesn’t even touch the tax situation.
2- there’s money and there’s money associated with power / networking. Who you know is everything and when you run in the same circles as the richest people on earth, the game changes. Even if her dad had 5m net worth in PA, it wouldn’t compare to the power someone would have in LA or NYC.
3- this is more abstract, but there are different subcultures within wealth, to someone growing up in the arts I would file them under intellectual - think Lena Dunham or every artist with rich parents that owns a brownstone in Brooklyn. They would look down on people in finance for being too simple. Like the rest of the world, it’s segregated.
I’m not defending btw, I just wanted to add context because I see this comment a lot. :)

Yes.
Taylor’s money now makes her mom and dad’s money (when she was a kid) look quaint. She also would have gone to the kind of nice schools that had even richer kids with bigger mansions. Enough where Taylor can reimagine her backstory as more modest, upper middle class.
