Stephanie Soo is a Korean influencer with over 4 million followers who is also hostess to podcast, rotten mango, in it she recently took to international audiences a piece of Mexican celebrity gossip that is actually embedded in the fabric of the nation, it’s basically the real life version of hit k drama, marry my husband, but sadly without a happy ending, the Karla panini and Karla Luna incident. Prompting the story to revive on TikTok and Twitter and the protagonists of this chisme, that was only known in Mexico, to be cancelled and receiving hate from international social media users now. The video is long but it is super interesting.

Stephanie even suggests that the original author of the web toon the k drama originates from, must have somehow known of this incident, since it is eerily similar to the real life events that happened.

Basically, real life joint by the hip, best friends 4 ever and comedians, Karla Luna and Karla panini, starred in a very famous comedy and gossip show called las lavanderas (the laundresses) where they are dressed as housewives, living on the same building and when they’d ran into each other in the laundry area, they would began to gossip about different topics, forgetting their original intent of doing their laundry. The show proved to be such a success that they started doing live shows around the country.

At the end of one of said shows Luna suddenly thanked the crowd and said that panini did her something so wrong, making it impossible for her to continue doing the laundresses thus ending the show effective immediately at the peak of their success.

It was later revealed that panini had been having a years long affair with Luna’s husband, Américo. People started scrutinizing old episodes and interviews and realized that panini would throw hints that she was double crossing her friend in her face, but that at the time it was perceived as bantering from panini’s character, such as an occasion in which Luna told her she was in a grumpy mood and panini straight up said “I’ll just ask your husband to fuck me then” or calling her a milk sister, meaning that they were related now because they shared the “milk” from the same man.

Shortly after Luna was diagnosed with cancer and some time later proceeded to give an exclusive interview revealing the depths her “friend” had taken to betray her. Luna first found out of the affair because panini would text Américo with “I love you’s” and he’d say that she must be drunk or being funny but when she confronted her via phone, they had both previously orchestrated an strategy and excuse to use in order to have an alibi for them both to leave unscathed. They also gaslit her to the point of making her believe she was having mental health and paranoia problems, going to therapy for her non existent issues. When Luna first discovered of her cancer, her and panini reconciled briefly, panini would make her drink some supposedly holistic/alternative juices that would aid her chemotherapy but it was later revealed that those concoctions were actually panini practicing witchcraft on her so Luna would die sooner.

Finally panini confessed to Luna that while Américo and her were helping her during her treatment, that they trauma bonded and fell in love because of the dire situation on ailing a cancer patient, but that they have just kissed, when confronted, both tried gaslighting her again.

Additionally, Luna discovered even more things when she read texts between him and panini on Luna’s sister’s cell phone, said cell phone originally belonged to Américo and gave it to his then sister in law but forgot to format it; the texts between panini and Américo were far more cruel, panini would ask Américo to bully and hit Luna because she could not stand him treating her nice, even if for a brief period of time.

Unfortunately, Luna passed away from cancer in 2017. Panini and Américo the proceeded to get married and ostracized the children of Luna and Américo from their maternal family, who are to this day not allowed to see them and the kids are allegedly banned from accessing the Internet.

When all of this made it to the public, the backlash was HUGE, since they live in the northern city of Monterrey, they fled to the USA and to this day are alternating between those two countries. Panini is known as “the most hated woman in Mexico” and her social media profiles are constantly flooded with comments reminding her of her past actions.
