Yup, Charly definitely spilled first. Then Laura almost ate shit in the exact same spot but she managed to hold onto the pot she had in her arms so I don't think she actually spilled anything. She yelled a warning to the rest of the kitchen that the floor was very slippery there. After that, Dan fell and he yelled at her about it, but I think that was because she had drawn attention to the fact that it was slippery so he assumed that she had spilled something there.
But I agree that she didn't offer to compromise anything for the sake of the group budget and her stuff was clearly the problem. They were given a $1000 budget which works out to $200 per person. After the first three people on her team had their items rung up, they were at $600 which meant those three people were on budget. After Laura had her items scanned, Danny had only $75 left for his ingredients which means that Laura spent $325 aka she was WAY over her budget.
If you know you have an expensive ingredient (like a bottle of alcohol) then you might need to compromise on other items. Like did she really need a gallon of milk? Would a smaller carton of milk have been enough for what she was making? Was there another brand of alcohol that would have been less expensive? If I had been Danny, I would have told her that she needed to prioritize and remove at least $75 of her items.
