Loved it! The cast was so good.

As fucked up as he is, The Ghoul is my favourite character. Walton Goggins is just so good.

Ella Purnell did great as the lead too. Face-wise, she reminds me so much of Leighton Meester.

However the constant '50s music needle drops drove me INSANE. We get it already! The original score by Ramin Djawadi was really good, and they should have let it breathe more.

most of the songs are from the games, for better or worse there's no way they weren't gonna use them.

Out of curiosity, did you play the game? If not, the music comes straight from the game. You can listen to it while you're wandering the wasteland, so it was fun to hear it in the show. If you did play the game and knew that already, don't mind me. Sometimes you just want an original score and that's ok too.

Nope never played the game, but the fact that the songs played such a big role makes more sense now.

I just have such an aversion to most pre-60s pop music that it got kind of grating for a while.

The others have already mentioned, but you can spend the entire 100+hours of gameplay listening to these songs on a loop, because there's an in-universe radio station the player character can tune into with their Pip-Boy. Having that constant soundtrack is very much a part of the Fallout experience (for better or worse), and therefore necessary to include while adapting the world to film.
