i just don't understand why you would load a gun for a movie, and then hand it over willy-nilly without warning?

She didn't hand it over. The AD just grabbed it off the cart and he handed it off willy nilly.

She shouldn't have left it unattended of course, but I refuse to let people forget the AD was the one who took the gun and passed it off without checking.

Yes, from what I've read, multiple people failed on this set and should have been charged.

She wasn't even there, the AD, who shouldn't have touched the gun, gave it to Baldwin, who was aware that the AD hadn't checked the ammo in front of him, why is how it's supposed to be done. Multiple safety procedures were ignored and Baldwin should also be convicted.

Baldwin's going to have no excuse because he worked on a Mission Impossible movie where he fired guns, and you know they did everything by the book on that set. He can't claim ignorance. He also fired the gun on Rust, it didn't misfire.

This seems like a textbook case of of the swiss cheese model, where multiple people/systems had to screw up for something to happen. If even one person along the chain had done something differently, it likely wouldn't have happened at all. I can't imagine how tough that must be for her family.

Yes, anywhere along the line it could have been prevented, if only one person had done their job correctly. Just one.

I recently had a friend die in a freak car accident that totally shouldn't have happened, and I'm having a hard time dealing with it, so I can only imagine how difficult this all is for her family.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Car accidents can be so difficult to reconcile with

Thank you. She died so needlessly, through no fault of her own, I'm so still so frustrated about it. I guess you can say that about most accidents and cancer, even, but this was just so senseless.

I know what you mean. In car accidents you can participate by actively upholding road rules, not drinking, not texting, being aware of your surroundings etc., and you can still pay the ultimate price for someone else’s negligence/endangerment.
