i said in an earlier post this should've been more fleshed out into a miniseries, not just a movie. there's a lot of potential there. and i found the young actress and her acting to be grating as fuck, i loathe those kinds of characters who never fucking listen and are in EVERYONE's way, ugh

I normally like Cailee so I think it was the writing, but generally agreed. I still audibly said “no” at the end even if in retrospect it was a predictable ending.

I agree with all of this, there were so many times I was wondering 'but what about......?????' and a miniseries would flesh it out a lot more. That being said, I can also see why Garland kept some of the detail sparse, you fill in the blanks yourself hypothesising about what might have happened/be happening. But came away feeling like it was an untapped well.

And mte about Jessie, the whole last scene I was just like MOVE OUT OF THE WAY all throughout and then yeah. But again, I'm aware that was all deliberate. Just infuriating

And for that reason I think that would hamstring a miniseries. A longer form I think would have ruined some of the things I think made it great like the vagueness about how everything started.

A series would probably eventually have to about sides.
