Reese's new career is running a book club so she has first rights to all the movies.

Streaming was exciting at first but now Im over it. There are shows here and there that are great (X-Men 97) but I've gotten to the point where Im not nearly as invested in shows as I used to be. Maybe its part of getting older but yesterday I was just sitting there trying to find something that I wanted to watch and....I have 5 different streaming services to choose from and nothing really interested me, either to start brand new, finish, or rewatch. It's just to much now.

And I was thinking that with the downfall of WB/UPN/CW....the days of Buffy/Charmed/Gilmore Girls/Supernatural/Dawsons Creek/etc...are truly over. Those types of shows wont be created in todays tv landscape. 8-10 episode format strips them of their overall charm and the Big 4 arent going to pick up those type of shows.

I feel somewhat overwhelmed at having so many choices. I find myself scrolling and scrolling and just give up and watch the same old same old.

I think this is def why younger people on stan twitter are investing their time into older shows...not just for the nostalgia but the longevity of those shows, and the longer seasons/arcs/more opportunity for character development. You don't always get that with the shorter shows on streaming services, and it feels like streaming shows either get cancelled much sooner or are talked about for a few weeks, then never again.

It's only like once every month or two that I find something new I really want to get invested in, otherwise I just rewatch stuff. And right now I'm rewatching Lucifer wondering why the hell I enjoyed it so much during peak lockdown when I binged the first four seasons in a week.

My last random TV find was The Righteous Gemstones and that was five years after it premiered. There is little coming out brand new that interests me because there is just TOO MUCH, and given that there is too much, so much of it is poorly made. I'm happy in a sense that it gives people more jobs and opportunities to break into the industry (especially writers for me) but the quality of 90% of it is terrible.

I think she’s being way too optimistic about AI not taking people’s job. If a studio exec can throw some prompts into an AI that will generate a script, they will do that instead of paying a team of creatives.

She has her own production company so she's calling all the shots. She's not sending out resume after resume hoping an actual human being will read it instead to getting tossed by an AI algorithm. I'm pretty sure every office worker has some anxiety of getting replaced by AI at this point but she literally cannot relate because she's the big boss.

She's not being genuine, she just doesn't care because it won't affect her. She owns a media company, AI shit benefits her.

I think one of the main issues with that statement re: the AI is regular people arent going to have a chance. Yes there will always be free AI services because its embedded in systems now and will have the potential to be accessed by anyone, but when it comes to actual industries, if you dont have money and power you wont have access to the ADVANCED AI and you wont be in a position for your AI creations to be used in a proper manner, and to stand profit off of it, they'll just be stolen. Industries already steal from people but this is gonna be even worse. We thought Shein and Wish using peoples art on shirts was bad. This is gonna be the on steroids version of that and you will be completely powerless to stop it. And AI is already running on stolen stuff in the first place. It literally cannot exist without stealing other peoples work.
