Genuinely devastated by this, I only got into Lower Decks this past year but it quickly became one of my favorite shows ever. It’s extremely niche, basically just for people who loved 90s Star Trek shows and have a very specific community-esque rapid fire meta humor sensibility, but that’s me! I follow the creator on bluesky and it seems from the writers’ posts that they didn’t see this coming but I’m glad we got the seasons that we did.

Happy for strange new worlds though!

🥹 that’s so sweet, you got me into SNW and it will almost certainly replace Lower Decks as my go to comfort show so thank you for that! At least we have the Boys to look forward to til the next SNW season comes out lol

It's genuinely so good. The first episode is rough but it is the rare one that gets better with every episode

Finding out that the creator loves Voyager like me meant a lot too

OK, I'm glad I read this comment. I LOVE SNW, and the much derided Voy is my fave ST show. I decided to give LD a shot just the other day but couldn't get past the first ep because, yeah, it was rough. But this comment right here? Yeah, it's convinced me to give it another shot.

The creator guest starred on The Delta Flyers podcast and it was so cute. He was telling Harry and Tom that he loved Voyager and he was brusque towards Harry at a con where they were both guests because he was so nervous!

I really thought LD would be on for a really long time. A lot like the adult swim shows. It might get longer in between seasons, but it would be around. I'm really pissed. They're already trying to get a write in campaign going to save it, since it worked with TOS, but that was decades ago and I don't think it's a "cancellation" as much as it's the writers wanting to end the storylines as I understand.

Me too, I’d hoped that since it was animated and easier to produce that it would avoid the Trek cancellation curse. I’m still hopeful that Netflix will pick it up though, like they did with Prodigy. The writers are really so great and you can tell they love the series, I hope they get a chance to wrap things up.

maybe I should give LD another shot. I only watched the pilot and was not a fan, but I looooove 90s Trek and The Orville is like my favorite thing

Highly, highly recommend for any 90s trek fan - there’s so many cameos and little references to the other shows it’s just delightful. The writers clearly love the old treks and there’s so many moments when they confront some ridiculous plot points of the previous series that are pure gold (Tuvix!)

I do think it has the potential to be the one that tickles my fancy of the new Treks because I find them to be mostly too gloomy and depressing (the effect that Battlestar Galactica reboot had on sci-fi is so depressing to me) and I know LD is meant to be lighter

It’s definitely light, and genuinely heartwarming at times. I think it became my favorite comfort show because nearly every episode ends on a high note

It took me about 4 episodes to start warming up to it, and it only kept getting better after that.
