scoop: it was fine. honestly, one of my favourite parts was watching romola garai run a newsroom again (i do not care how many years it has been, i will always be salty about the hour getting cancelled). i'd read enough about the drama around securing the interview that the only part which threw me was learning about andrew's extensive teddy bear collection.
one life: the original video makes me cry so putting that in the hands of anthony hopkins is obviously going to make me cry again. the story is just too moving (and hopkins too talented) for that not to be a slam dunk, even when the direction and writing are all just alright. shoutout to romola garai for being in this one too lmao. seeing her and johnny flynn together when they played emma and knightley in two of my fave emma adaptations was fun.
mad max fury road: i realized that i never actually rewatched this and furiosa is coming up next month already. breaking news: it rules. i enjoyed it even more on rewatch. it's funny how much more recognizable the cast is to me now too (that was definitely the first thing i'd ever seen riley keough in, and courtney eaton aka lottie from yellowjackets is cheedo?).
wish: i like ariana debose and i want better for her than her recent track record. this wasn't even terrible, but it felt very phoned in. the easter eggs got a little ridiculous and the songs were mostly blah. it sucks that this movie is probably the last original out of disney animation for a long while.
the decoy bride: finished this about 20 minutes ago. kelly macdonald and david tennant in the hebrides, romcom shenanigans, very 2011. written by sally phillips, which was a fun surprise. i liked it! not earth-shattering or anything (and you have to really suspend some disbelief), but the charm of the two leads was enough to win me over.
this weekend, wicked little letters and the greatest hits are on my list if i have time for both!
