-Alex Kurtzman who runs Star Trek recently weighed in on episode count, primarily within modern Star Trek-verse and just how long streaming shows can last.
-He had this to say: I don't know, it's very hard. I mean, the fact that [Discovery went to] go on five seasons is sort of a miracle. I think most people watch two seasons of a streaming show, and they check out, you know, and that's not specific to Trek. I just think that's the watch pattern for television in the streaming world. It's hard to know.
-Most shows get 10 episode order if they're likely, it used to be 13 but the number keeps going down. Star Trek Discovery season 1 had 16 episodes and 7 years later, in its 5th season will only have 10 episodes for a total of 57 by the end of its run.
-Orange is the New Black came close to 100 episodes with the show ending on episode 91 while Game of Thrones brought in 73 episodes.
