If I could go the rest of my life without more lead vs supporting discourse, I'd be so happy lol. Anyway, it's hard to know what to think of this without having even seen the series yet. At this point I'm just glad they're being submitted for consideration. I'm ready for Lily to get her EGOT.

I wish it could be a quantitative solution - minutes per series/eps. But yeah I guess it's sort of subjective (but sometimes only when pushing for awards.)

this Emmy season looks like category freud central, all the limited shows are trying to get into drama bc that one is super empty and The Crown is weak

The Curse is going drama?

Masters of the Air is pretending to get a second season (?)

there are rumors about Shōgun and The Sympathizer as well

The Curse is going into drama?!

I admit wondering who is such a threat in Lead for Limited that Hulu is throwing Lily AND Riley for Supporting.

The ones that come immediately to my mind are Jodi Foster and Julianne Moore. Maybe some of the Capote actresses, but the article says they'll be in supporting contention. The Curse should not be in drama. If it stays in it's true category, Emma Stone will be in there as well. Maybe Hulu wants to avoid a possible repeat of oscars season lol.

just looked and number one in odds for Lead Limited Series right now is Jodie Foster

True Detective: Night Country did so well in terms of numbers and Jodie Foster is so beloved they’re probably right to beware of her! lol

Lol Lily goes supporting here where it seem like she's clearly a lead but did not supporting for Killers!!

These haunting choices!!

I'm assuming the actress who plays Reena is the lead cause if not, then who is lol????

If it's true to the book, she'll definitely not be the lead. The books wastes a shitload of pages on the criminals while Reena is essentially an afterthought (a rather cruelly portrayed one btw).

When I first heard about the project, I thought Riley was the lead. At the time of production, she was the bigger name and this was filmed before Lily's KOTFM campaign started. Lily's character is also not in the book, but was created for this series. Idk I guess we'll find out soon enough what to make of this campaigning decision. IF they are even nominated, it sucks they'll have to compete against each other as that usually spreads votes.

I remember hearing about Riley being in this a while back but then when the new promo came out with Lily being front and center I completely forgot about Riley lol!

Ok, I guess. I hope the series is done more tastefully than the book bc it's genuinely one of the most pointless true crime books I've ever read. Reena deserved much better, so I hope the show portrays her with kindness.

Her father was involved with production, iirc. They use his memoir, apparently.
