Oh, thank god, I've been wanting to vent about this for days.

The judging was SO biased. Jen's final set was really underwhelming, and there was a huge effing crack in the cake stand, and they were all absolutely gushing over it. Elsa's set was beautiful, and Kiefer's was really stunning, but the feedback for theirs was so dismissive, particularly of Kiefer's. They were so clearly actively looking for flaws to point out, whereas they handwaved away the ones in Jen's. I'm not necessarily saying she didn't deserve to win, but I was so turned off by that final critique that I really lost interest in any future seasons of the Canadian version.

her cakestand had a crack in it and she still won?! did everyone else have equally big flaws?

Neither of the other finalists had tea pots that poured properly. One wasn't glazed properly so it wasn't usable.

I haven't seen the show but just looking at Jen's tea set it looks to me super boring - like intermediate pottery glass. And super rushed.

I agree - they were hyper focused on any little thing they could find to nitpick for the other two, yet Jen's crack was no big deal. And the thing is that it wasn't just oh well, it was in the hands of the kiln gods and you never know what they'll do. She should have dried it the other way (upside down) so that was an actual mistake she made.

Flaws aside, I found Jen's to be really basic and boring. Pressing the hockey stick shape into her set made it look lumpy/messy and the turquoise color seemed more appropriate for a Caribbean/beach theme than ice hockey. The shapes of her teapot, cups, etc. were also very blah. I felt like Elsa and Kiefer made much bolder choices in the forms, colors, etc. And Elsa took a huge risk with the handle on her teapot.
