Disney will release Pixar’s Toy Story 5 in June 2026, the studio announced Friday.
The film was first announced in February 2023, with the sequel an attempt to return to form for the franchise after the disappointing performance of the 2022 spinoff, Lightyear.
Also getting pushed is Dwayne Johnson’s live-action remake of Moana by a year to 2026. The move gives the remake some breathing room from the animated Moana 2, which opens this November.
The Star Wars feature The Mandalorian & Grogu will premier in May 2026, as had been speculated. The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau is directing the film, which spins out of his Disney+ show.
In other news, the Jared Leto movie Tron: Ares is scheduled to open in 2025. The film follows the cult classics Tron, and Tron: Legacy. While the previous films have centered on a character going inside a computer, the new installment is said to take place mostly in the real world as an artificial intelligence escapes its digital confines.
