As a long time fan I'm very conflicted. I don't think it's necessarily fair to ascribe one person's politics to their spouse or family, and neither do I expect them to take a public stance against their own family. I also wouldn't expect one member of the band to make a public stance that actively calls out another member's family, particularly because all of them are quite private about their personal lives. I'm glad Ed has spoken out.

That said...it's a very gross look that Thom basically faffed off the last time they played Israel as not really their issue, when this is the same band that very publicly used to call for freeing Tibet and have spent a lifetime writing music that calls out authoritarianism. I get they have a soft spot for it; Israel was the first place they ever went #1, and Jonny obviously married an Israeli (who has proven to be a Zionist). I'm not going to presume those who haven't said anything publicly are Zionist, but I'm disappointed they haven't publicly aligned with the values they've publicly espoused for most of their careers.
