I was a huge X-Phile in the 90s, and I do remember this nonsense of how hard Chris Carter and others in the production had to fight to get her cast. Yet, she became such a 90s icon, which is indeed the proof many TV execs don't know anything. Seriously, so many of my bisexual or lesbian friends cite Gillian as one of the actresses that was crucial in realizing their attraction to women!
