i want to say that's when mothers have incestuously close relationships with their sons bc they raised them to be the men that they wish their husbands were and they see their sons' gfs/wives as competition, but i could be wrong

Yes this is it. And it was originally coined by Black twitter and youtube so it could have different meanings when other people use it because everytime Black people create a new term, other people steal it and change the meaning I:e 'pick me' which now has 38903840 different meanings after the yt girls started using it.

The explanation you were given sounds like it's defining a "husband-son", not a "son-husband", but it could be just me being pedantic with the semantics. A son-husband to me is a man you marry and become the mother of because he's completely useless.
