my god just leave people alone unless they're in a good position to chat like waiting at a counter or something

Or at a scheduled event where interacting with fans is appropriate lol

Waiting at a counter is still a bad time imo

I mean sure but like as an example if they happen to be standing there and the opportunity seems good to just say hi and be done is what I mean (like they smile or seem open and you say hi, etc.). just like reading social cues.

otherwise yeah leave people alone

yeah i think in an ideal world there'd be nothing wrong with recognizing someone whose work you really like and giving them a sincere compliment about it, assuming you're in a situation where you don't have to like invade their space to do so

unfortunately we live in a world where everyone views each other as objects, so too many people treat spotting a celebrity in the wild as just an opportunity to get a picture and post about it for clout. and they don't think about whether the celebrity they're approaching is actually in a position to talk to them, let alone actually wants to.

oh I'd never ask for a photo lol but like if I were say a bartender and a celeb was my customer I'd say hi to them and love your work, maybe small talk then leave them alone

I agree. I think anthony mackie situation was less bad because the fan there at least coarsely followed some basic social norms. She approached him, acknowledged him, spoke to him directly. She could have read the room better, but her actions fit into general social customs of our society.

This woman is just way out there, however. Who does stuff like that? Does she realize every one else is a person just like her?

Social media has made people way too shameless.
