I would have lost my mind (not in a euphemistic way, in an actual mental health way) if my partner had refused to ever get up with the baby. I genuinely don't know how anyone does it.

I had a great partner in my husband for my last baby and even then I literally lost my mind. I can’t imagine going through what I did with a shitty partner, sincerely doubt I’d be here today

Right. I had PPA/PPP (the second one briefly, but still scary). I fully dissociated for days. I have no idea what I would've done if I'd been getting even less sleep.

I know someone who did legitimately lose their mind because of a combination of sleep deprivation (her husband slept on a different floor than her and the two kids and went to bed at like 7am and then was up and out of the house to go to the gym by 530) and some other undiganosed/repressed trauma. when their second was around a year old, she started hearing voices, had false memories, hallucinations. got admitted and the doc essentially said the lack of sleep tossed her over the edge into a psychosis which she is still experiencing and on meds for today after 2 years.

she is in therapy and does have a good grasp now on when she is slipping back into it but she still to this day does not know which of her memories is real or not.

My friend’s sister seemed to go into some kind of post-partum psychosis. She just became paranoid and convinced that her family were out to get her, and talking behind her back. It was so strange.
