tl-dr version: EL made a post that was mental health related about Elmo, the shittiest of lurkers popped out to do their usual shitty thing, lots of arguments and ugly things were said in that post, Evil basically said "screw you guys, I'm, going home" and baleeted. :(

Okay, my memory is coming back, and it wasn't a post about Emo directly but a celeb that made a long post on either Instagram or FB about how he watched Larry David pop out of nowhere to attack Elmo (grabbing his face, etc) on some morning news program saying how horrified he was at David's actions? This celeb has had a genuinely traumatic past, so it was understandable why he would be traumatized, plus Elmo was on the morning show to talk about mental health, which made it worse. Now imagine the most cruel, tone-deaf, and outright wanky things you can imagine the shittiest of trolls saying in response to something like that, then add 10x to that. While I recognized some of the users names a lot of them were people I've never seen before (which is also why it's a good idea to be vague about personal business on here). It was terrible when I read it, and I heard it got even worse later. I don't know anything about EL but if she's had mental wellness episodes in the past (or friends/family members who struggle) I can understand why she

I got to the Oscars post too late and then didn't understand why she wasn't posting a million Ryan gifs, she waited literally a year. omg the Will Wheaton post? I got hit by some irl bullshit right around that post and I don't remember anything getting out of control at the moment I was reading, when it was still pretty small, the universe really decided to go all out that day it seems. What the actual fuck though, why do randomass people decide to come out randomly to fuck everything up? It feels like a weirdly safe bubble and then you see a comment with more than 100 likes and you're like oh shit, yeah you're right I better say less. i feel like as soon as i settle down and find it a comforting place to be there's drama. well honestly she may as well stay away for her mental health, but if she ever returns i will be waiting like elizabeth swann.

I’m a pretty thick skinned cunt and even I get a bit down around here when people pile on me if I share a more ~unusual take (not even a problematic one btw just unpopular) so I get how this was the point where she had enough bc she seemed like a genuinely sweet, nice person. I’d say the majority of posters here are pretty cool, but some users are fucking miserable so I get why she would rather just peace out.

My experience is the same. Nine times out of ten people are fun and great. And then every so often somebody disagrees and gets nasty about it. It’s defo better than in like the early 00s, but I agree - every so often it feels like that’s creeping back ☹️
