I’m disappointed to learn Bashar Murad didn’t win to represent Iceland. AND Eurovision allowed Israel to enter with their song when it seems like they only made them change the title? I’m not 100% on that part but either way, fuck them and fuck the hypocrisy. I usually do enjoy watching Eurovision but I definitely will not be now.

they only made them change the title and a few lyrics lines but it's still so obviously propaganda and sympathy vote bait. they filmed the mv before the lyric/title change and you can still see the artist sing the original words

And yet they are whining saying that they are being unfairly targeted by antisemitism.
I just can't with them.

Also why do they get to compete? Explain this to me, how are they able to be a part of Europe if they're in the middle east? Granted I'm an American who only knows about Eurovision from the controversies. I thought they are all claiming they are indigenous to the land. Lol

well the contest has nothing really to do with geography or the continent of europe, it's a competition between broadcasters from different countries, overseen by the EBU (european broadcasting union, aka evil incarnate). it's why australia has been competing in eurovision for years now. the EBU only banned russia after significant pressure from other broadcasters threatening to pull out of the contest. this year, no broadcasters has pulled out yet (iceland did take a while to consider it but decided to send their entry anyway) or applied any pressure so israel is still in it

It has nothing to do with Europe; you have to be a member of the European Broadcasting Union. It is a collective union aimed at facilitating the broadcast of events via satellites, such as sports events, etc. One of the reasons you can actually see live footage from Israel is most likely due to the broadcasting union.

Countries like Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Jordan are eligible to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest.

EBU also works to promote the role of media in society, support member organizations in their work, and represent the interests of broadcasting at the international level. Belarus received a three-year suspension due to their mistreatment of their coworkers and their termination of employees who did not want to discuss election fraud on television.

So I guess for Israel's case, as long as we can talk about Palestine on television, it's okay? When they start to silence Palestinian voices and begin running propaganda, then they have a problem. But that has to be an inside job, I guess

if bashar had won the icelandic nf israel definitely would have pulled out like they threatened to but now that he's out of the way they conveniently had a change of heart (like almost immediately after) and it's so transparent lol

And what exactly would his inclusion have done to offend Israel, I wonder? 🤔
