-Bizarre things start happening in the little New Mexico town where UFOs were spotted in 1947. Cut to 1999, when a cute high-school student saves the life of a teenage waitress. Surrounded by cliques of clever, angst-filled classmates, the two form a bond that threatens the survival of a secret universe involving superhuman powers, a yen for hot sauce and an alien gene pool.

-The show would premiere on TheWB and cancelled after Season 1 but was ultimately saved by a successful hot sauce campaign by fans.

-Most of the cast would not be happy with the save as they were not interested in continuing the show with Majandra Delfino stating in an online fan chat room, where a fan asked her how she felt about being renewed for a third season after nearly being canceled yet again; "I tried not to think about it"

-WB would cancel the show again after the end of the 2nd season but the show would not die as UPN saved it.

-3rd time would not be the charm as UPN cancelled the show at the end of its 3rd season but luckily gave the writers enough time to craft a series finale.

-The shows cast would go on to have a variety of success - Katherine Heigl would end up Greys Anatomy for 5.5 seasons. Sheri Appleby had some short lived shows and eventually moved primarly into directing. Jason Behr famously was blacklisted after trying to stiff his manager from commission, citing the Talent Agencies Act as a way to get out of his contract. Brendan Fehr & Majandra Delfino had limited success here and there. Nick Wechsler & Emilie de Ravin joined the ABC family with hit shows Revenge and LOST. Colin Hanks has starred in a variety of movies and hit tv shows (house bunny, fargo)

-The show would be semi rebooted by TheCW and follow the books that it was adapted from more closely with Appleby/Behr making guest appearances.
