and yet not because both fanbases are freakishly chart-obsessed, though I find the way modern music fans are invested in that to be super fucking strange. I'm a 90s music fan, in my day you started hating things when they got popular because popularity meant they SOLD OUT lmao
honestly it just baffles me every time I see fanbases caring about their faves charting like they are getting a share of the royalties. you want your faves to be successful enough to remain productive sure but otherwise who the fuck cares
it's silly, and honestly, after seeing a couple of FANTASTIC concerts by artists with average success in intimate concert halls for 90 bucks last year as opposed to spending hundreds and hundreds to be 1 in 70k at a stadium pop show, I don't get the desire for your fave to be a megastar
