Seeing the same people being cast in film all the time really shows there's clearly a shortage of actors in Hollywood. We need to do sth. There has to be a way to find other actors. #tragic #help #hollywoodisdying
It's sad to see the same people over and over and over again, when there's so much talent out there. The Newcomer is a power on it's own, and directors and producers should be using them more.
I hope Dominic Sessa encourages that type of thinking. A big reason The Holdovers worked and was so charming was the fact it wasn't filled with names I've seen a million times.

This is especially true for POC actors. Hollywood has a tiny handful of actors that they cast whenever they have a non-white role to fill or they decide to add some ~diversity to the cast in a minor character like the lead’s BFF or ex-girlfriend. Most of their go-to POC casting choices are decent enough actors but it’s ridiculous that it’s always the same few people who end up in these roles, as if there aren’t tons of other actors who are talented enough to play these parts.
These are very buzzy actors. Pedro is still riding a high and has lots coming out, Emma just won her second Oscar. Austin did well in that Elvis movie and now Dune 2... Joaquin Phoenix is... you know, there too, and Oscar-nommed. They're pretty safe bets.
Yeah no I agree! I was being a bit silly in my comment but his craft is really very good. I guess for studios his off-screen persona might be difficult but he's definitely talented
Yeah I know he’s difficult/problematic. I don’t really follow him that much though tbh, but I love him in Her and I think the Master has some of the best acting I’ve ever seen!
This is why I'm intrigued by the new PTA movie. At least he's getting different POC actors like Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, etc. Yes, Leo is there but I'm excited to see different faces.
