I have mixed feelings because she is allowed to feel however she feels, and it's understandable that her feelings may have changed over 40 years (in 1988, she sued him for intentional infliction of emotional distress and in 2003, she said, "Straight up, what he did to me was wrong" so at some point she knew none of this was acceptable). But none of that changes the fact that he has admitted repeatedly that he had sex with a 13 year old girl and then chosen to avoid returning to the United States to be sentenced.

I feel for her as a victim of sexual assault who has been dealing with this very publicly on and off for decades. I can understand her feeling that every time he is in the news again, it's traumatizing for her. Aside from the regular PTSD of having to see his face and hear his name plastered everywhere, she has not been treated well by the legal system or the press. The original judge in the case asked if she was part of a mother-daughter prostitution team, the former district attorney suggested she had been paid off, and others said she was a lying gold digger and a drug-dealing Lolita who trapped Polanski. I can't imagine dealing with that kind of vitriol from such a young age and then continuing for decades. From that point of view, I totally get that she just wants this all to be over.

But instead of asking the court to dismiss the case or allow his previously served 42 days as his sentence, she should be asking him to bring his ass back so that he can face the consequences of his actions because THAT is what will end this case. I truly feel for her, but the courts aren't the ones dragging this out. He is the one who has been doing that for 40+ years.

her book is heartbreaking and it really does come across as being traumatized by the aftermath the most.
