I feel like it's weird to say your kids "ruined" your career as opposed to "I sacrificed my career" but I can't be bothered to read so maybe she didn't actually say that. If she did it feels a bit resentful but just in the wording. Idk I say own the decision, even if you're unhappy with it now.

Honestly, I wish more moms raged at how challenging it is to be a working mom. That's not their kids' fault, but we don't always have the language to blame the powers that be.

I think a lot of moms rage against that, and they are right, but I agree it's not something you blame on the small humans you made in this circumstance.

I'm not even a mom yet and this year I had to make a decision that I'm going to focus my time and energy into IVF knowing it'll stall my career development and I'm fucking furious because a man will never even have to consider this!

I don’t know who I’d rage to. My daughter is my WORLD. But I’m her primary caregiver, and within a few years may be her only caregiver, without much of a support network where I live; my family all lives on the west coast and even friends I have around Chicago live like an hour away because of how large the city is and their location in the suburbs. That means I can’t participate in professional associations the way I used to since I’d need to bring her and then I’d have to wonder if people would look at me funny. I actually was going to bring her to a presentation at a conference a couple hours away, but they changed the topic and it wasn’t worth me going. I was annoyed because I wanted to make a statement ( ... )

Yeah, it sounds like she chose to give it up & raise kids. Some people like working, others want to be a SAHM & some work because they need money.

My mom worked 3 days a week because she needed it for her mental health and then had Monday & Friday off to volunteer for Field Trips, etc... My sister quit working while pregnant but may go back in a couple years when her daughter starts Kindergarden.

Yeah I know what you mean, saying that you prioritised your family over your career and you’re very happy with that choice is one thing, but I don’t know how I would feel if I was one of her kids reading a headline about how having children ruined her career, it does make it sound like she’s blaming them in a way
