I sympathize with her to a degree, but, at the same time, those three movies probably gave her more money than 99% of people will see in their lifetime, to say nothing of merchandising likeness rights, so while having her career stall like that couldn't have been pleasant, she wasn't hurting for money.

Merch rights can be tricky and dirty. Cause I heard Dominic Monaghan years ago that he and the cast receive next to nothing from merchandise. He mentioned that Viggo went to the bosses about that because of how much money was made off their images and he wanted out of it obviously but they shot him down.

Orlando Bloom mentioned that he was only paid 175,000 for the entire LOTR trilogy. And that trilogy made a total of 3B.

That’s why I’m not surprised actors sign up for fashion houses and other campaigns cause it looks like that’s where they make most their money.

Exactly. That's one good thing about casting relatively unknowns in potentially big franchises--none of them have the galls or experience to negotiate or think long term like that and likely couldn't afford a team that could look out for them like this either unless they're nepo babies.

Yep. Some are just happy to have a job so they don't think about it either!

I think lack of gall or experience or long term thinking is not the main problem: they simply can't try to negotiate too much, because if the studio decides they're too greedy, they'd just hire somebody else instead. Newcomers have no space to negotiate whatsoever. Maybe after the first movie, but they probably signed up for all 3 in advance.

merchandising likeness rights

There's no way she makes money off merch. Disney is too greedy.
