Deux Moi podcast discussed the drama with the Drama Queens and it’s not just about a book cover. Joy is apparently anti trans and homophobic and the other two have had enough.

Joy's bullshit conservative beliefs have never been a secret. Well, not a well-kept secret anyway. There is no way that this is the first time that Sophia and Hilarie have known this, not when pretty much everyone in the OTH fandom (aside from the delusional Joy stans, ig) have acknowledged how sus she is. Joy wrote a blog post years ago defending the racial profiling of Muslims. IIRC, she followed people like libsoftiktok. If Sophia and Hilarie bought her bs about how she doesn't always agree~ with the people she follows, then they're even dumber than they come across in their insta posts.

I mean, I guess it's better late than never that they're cutting ties with Joy. I just don't think it's as simple as thinking they're that committed to progressive values, because they overlooked a lot to get to this point.

I think people tried to convince themselves that her beliefs were initially due to her shitty husband, and then when she got divorced, just tried to believe she would be more liberal. And she mostly kept thoughts hidden, but the podcast started to shed more of a light on it because of off comments she'd make.

It’s very obvious (to me at least) they clearly overlooked and ignored her beliefs and fucked up social media follows in order to make the podcast work. Sure, they could have done the pod without Joy, but it would have been a glaringly obvious choice to do so and when you only have 3 female leads who always claimed to get along and support each other, it’s a tough sell when it’s not the whole package.

It wouldn't surprise me if Hilarie secretly held conservative beliefs. She's married to Mr. Blue Lives Matter after all

I don't think Hilarie has conservative beliefs herself... IIRC she's been outspoken about BLM and she's def been outspoken re trans rights. I think she could just join the long line of white women who don't see being a bigot as a dealbreaker when it comes to relationships, because they're privileged enough to do so. (And then they'll complain that it's sexist to judge them based on their partners' beliefs lol.)

Maybe that's changing, if Hilarie really did dump Joy as a friend for being a bigot. But goddamn it took her long enough, so I'm not gonna trip over my feet praising her for being an ally.
