via GIPHY IndyCar’s not there. MotoGP’s not there. Why should they (the viewers) have to be there?
Some news after the snoozefest brown noise playlist that was Round 1 where Red Bull landed another victory -- how that's DRS changeup working? Carlos Sainz underwent an operation for appendicitis and seems to be recovering well. Oliver Bearman, currently competing in Formula 2 for Prema Racing, qualified at P11 on his debut.
The House that Caffeine Built…may be imploding
(make media literacy and common sense great again for fuck sake.) Helmut Marko may be under investigation from Red Bull and Red Bull Racing (he’s technically employed by the former). And Max could leave if he leaves.
Mind you, all speculation and misinformation have seeped into even reputable motorsports publications and translations by UK and U.S. based publications can be missing context entirely.
Marko, who Verstappen calls his mentor is under investigation that may be due to a leak of Christian Horner’s misconduct. Verstappen said “I’ve always clearly indicated that he has to stay, so I can’t continue without him.” Even if Red Bull suspends Marko, he can be under Max’s employ though that won’t simply erase power struggles in the paddock. Marko is reportedly scheduled to sit with Red Bull’s CEO next week to determine his fate. Marko has been ordered by Red Bull to not make statements to the media.
For some reason Toto Wolff thought he could make a snarky comment about Marko's future, but his cars are lining up in P7 and P8, so maybe he should just focus on that…
Oh yeah, more Alpine turnover… and yet Laurent Rossi still has a job
Announced just after Round 1 because of course personnel changes is what this team does best, Technical Director Matt Harman and Head of Aero Dirk de Beer will leave the team “to seek new challenges”. Sounds like immediate dismissal after testing to turn the car into a certified shitbox.
Daniel Ricciardo is still getting to coast on his mediocrity…
- C2 to C4 tires being used this weekend
- Zhou cannot participate due to a crash in practice but wait the team managed to get the repairs with less than two minutes in season one. Sadly despite their efforts, still didn’t make the cut
- Hulkenberg gets impeded on his outlap by a Williams but he never manages to convert so why complain
- Piastri with a quick recovery from a lockup briefly tops the first session
- Bearman manages to put his first outlap in the top ten
- Eliminated in Q1: ZHO, OCO, GAS, SAR, BOT
- In Q2 Hulkenberg causes a yellow flag with a loss of power and then a red flag
- Perez tops the session before being split by Alonso
- Bearman just missies out while both Mercs struggle
- Eliminated Q2: BEA, ALB, MAG, RIC, HUL
- At the beginning of Q3 Merc hits the top because well no else made their outlaps yet.
