do you use Tan's trick of measuring if they will fit by putting the waist around your neck?

I do! And weirdly, it doesn't always work. Sometimes they fit perfectly, are too small or too big.

Jeans! You wrap the waist of the jeans around your neck and if the ends touch, the jeans should fit. I've had ones that overlap and they end up being too small. It usually works though, I've been doing it for years!

It's really helpful when you're trying shopping! Especially ones that are from the same brand, but said brand isn't consistent with their sizing. I've got multiple pairs of the same jeans/design/cut and their all different sizes (7 for all man kind, I'm looking at you!!)

I learned this trick in high school when we learned about body proportions (that is also when I learned that your foot is the length from your elbow to your wrist). I think the waist/neck measurement works better if you are using pants that sit at your natural waist. If the rise is lower, then the proportions don't work as well since your hips are wider than your waist. But even when this trick doesn't work perfectly, it still saves me time when deciding which exact jeans to bother trying on, especially with brands that aren't super consistent with their sizing (which drives me nuts).

lol Que?? My foot is definitely not the length of my elbow to wrist, I’d need clown shoes if that were the case.

I have wide hips that defy all logic so it doesn’t work at all for me unfortunately. Just a full centaur body.

I feel the same, my body just seems wonky to me 😞

Yeah I think it must only work for people with straight hips?? Like the trick works for size 4 jeans around my neck, but no way could I actually wear them.

I don't remember where I learned it, but I've been doing it for years and have gotten weird looks each time I do it. I've had a few people ask what I'm doing, so I've been able to share my super secret knowledge!

Growing up I was so embarrassed when my mum would put trousers around my neck to check if they fit. But now I do it all the time because i cbf going into the changing rooms sometimes.
