The snobbery the academy has for comic book movies hurt her campaign, she’s also overdue but Stephanie should’ve won over both of them, I’d rank JLC last in that category. She had the overdue veteran narrative going for her the same way RDJ does this year.

I'll take Robert's career narrative win over Jamie any day cause at least he was actually important to the movie and plot whereas Jamie was a glorified cameo in her movie.

Lol that's just not true, she was basically the secondary bad guy. Multiple scenes including tax bad guy, fighting bad guy, hot dog fingers, resolution. Imo the fact her side character had an arc speaks to the strength of the movie.

Exactly this! RDJ is is my second least favourite performance in his category (behind Ryan) and if I'm being honest, there were 3 supporting performances that I would have preferred to be in the category over them but even I think comparing RDJ's inevitable win to JLC's career win is an insult to RDJ. Even if it was not my favourite performance I can still respect the impact it made on the movie. JLC win still baffles me.

I will say I am watching American Fiction tonight so I cannot gauge yet where I would rank Sterling amongst the nominees. Maybe I would want to replace half the category 😅
