I don't believe "once a cheater, always a cheater" is an absolute. I know people who have cheated in relationships that were horrific. Age can be a factor too- young people do a lot of jackass shit. I don't think either exceptions I might make was the case with either party in this story, though.

But like anything, people have to work on themselves. Most people aren't willing or able to do that.
