My friend's mom had cancer when we were in high school. She did the same thing as Babe and planned everything for her service. It might sound like a very control freak thing to do, but a few years later when someone else's dad died and I saw the family struggling to make so many decisions about the service, I saw what a gift it was that my friend's mom had relieved them of that burden. It's hard to guess what this person who you loved might have wanted, especially while you're in shock and still grieving.
