Kate Winslet says “I would've benefited from an intimacy coordinator every single time I had to do a love scene."

“I don’t like that camera angle. I don’t want to stand here full-frontal nude. I don’t want this many people in the room...."https://t.co/ucCller6Lm

You know what, I don’t like her and don’t have much time for her, but good on her for speaking up about this. Women - especially younger, less powerful women - are so exploited in this industry, and having an A lister like her supporting intimacy co-ordinators instead of being all “not like other girls, we just got on with it” as some other actresses have done is a good thing.

it's nice to see an actor who's been in the industry for a long time actually speak up in support of intimacy coordinators

it's nice to finally hear from a big actor that appreciates and advocates for them. so often all we hear is people waving them off or saying they hinder the experience, which always annoys me

mte i came in here to say this! i hate when actors come out against intimacy coordinators. it’s like, okay maybe YOU don’t feel they’re necessary but maybe your experience isn’t universal???

especially when they're big names that likely aren't anywhere near as at risk of being taken advantage of as lesser known actors or feel like they have more power to say something in the moment than others would

This is good coming from her cause she was def one of the most well-known actors to do nude scenes.

"When you’re young, you’re so afraid of pissing people off or coming across as rude or pathetic because you might need those things. So learning to have a voice for oneself in those environments was very, very hard.”

Reminds me of what Mark Rylance said after looking back on a controversial sex scene (unsimulated oral sex) he did back in the early 00s:

"Rylance told the Wall Street Journal in 2015: "It soured me on my life two months, It’s my mistake, but I felt Patrice [Chéreau] put undue pressure on me on set to do that.

He continued: "And at that point I didn’t have the confidence as a film actor to say no. Now I think a lot of actors that people say are difficult are actually just being sensible."

I remember hearing about it in the past and that the nudity was a big talking but I didn't know the details~

I feel for Mark.

I believe he said in an interview that he wished he hadn't made that film because of those scenes :(
