Life is too short and the day is too nice to get incensed over this Pick-Me. Some people are really the cause of their own unhappiness.

especially when it comes to men. i have a friend who was crying over some guy a month into knowing him bc he didn't seem to want to get to know her as a person, just for sex. her excuse was that they get along so well when they're together and he's a male version of her!!

me and several of her other friends kept telling her to ditch him bc he doesn't want the same things as she does in a relationship but she didn't want to bc she wanted the story that came with hooking up with him...when it would eventually happen bc even that took time - man kept ghosting her whenever they were supposed to hookup.

now about 2 years and many threesomes later with this dude, her hookups are starting to feel like a job. i don't like that she feels that way, but i'm not overly sympathetic either tbh. she's being dumb about another guy she likes and i envision that ending in heartbreak for her too bc of the gymnastics she does to have it make sense to keep this guy around

i know this type of pick me too well. they think they're overly romantic but in reality they are simply emotionally unavailable and don't actually want to fall in love with someone, because that requires vulnerability and they explicitly choose someone who will never go there with them.

preach. she says she wants to get married and have a family, but she'll put men into three different categories in her mind based on how they look (whether they're someone to date, fuck or marry 🙃) and i'll let you guess which one is the most prevalent.

This reminds me of my sister. She’s been sleeping with this guy on an off for 8 years now and obviously has feelings for him but keeps jumping the second he calls her up. He ghosts her for 2 months whenever she tries to ask him about getting serious, talks shit about him, then suddenly he calls her up and they’re sneaking around again. When she was young we felt bad, but now going into almost 9 years, none of us care to listen anymore.

I remember being in a extremely vexous relationship in my 20s and one day after hearing me bitch one time too many a friend finally let me have it and said to me "You know what? You say this about [X] all of the time, but I see no signs that you want something different. There must be a part of you that enjoys being treated this way. Aren't you tired of this?" And yes, I got mad at her for saying all of that, it did make me think, and every time I got into a fight with him I would hear her voice saying in my head "Aren't you tired?" and one day I realized that yes, I was tired and made steps to get out.

Some people eventually pick up the clue phone and realize something isn't working for them, while other people just stay stuck for whatever reason. And while I feel badly for them, like my friend my sympathy can only go so far.
