Wtfffffff NOOOooOoooOo. Netflix did this show so dirty. You have Michelle Yeoh as a lead and there was like no advertising for it at all! I only knew about it because it’s filmed in the 626. Ugh justice for this show and also for the great cast

The cast as a whole was honestly so good. I only started watching the show for Yeoh but I ended up adoring all the actors/characters, including Bruce (who seems to get so much hate from the fandom... was gonna start a Brucie defense squad in s2!)

I'm at least grateful that the showrunners thought ahead to end season 1 in a way that makes sense as a series finale. No cliffhangers that would drive me insane lol.

YES, I've seen so many people complain that he's dumb, annoying, whiny, always makes the wrong decision, always runs away like a coward, etc. It legit annoys me bc ppl are just making shit up about him 😭 like saying he always makes stupid decisions or runs away, that's just... not true? he's obviously not good at machiavellian scheming or long-term strategy, but he's been shown to be really good at thinking on his feet when plans go awry, e.g. [Spoiler (click to open)]releasing the lizard on campus to distract the police from charles, bringing the aunties along with him to save mama sun, running into the meeting to get rid of the bomb, pointing out blood boots' killer to xing to sic her on him and save mama sun, etc. IMO it was actually a nice nod to his improvisational skills! bro just needs to stop trying to play 4d chess and stick to thinking on his feet, that's where his skills obviously are lol.

I loved the mamas scene! Also without him, the show would have less comedy and less heart in my opinion!

Bruce is not dumb, he just needed time to adjust to the life of crime he was suddenly thrown into! One of the things I love most about the show is how different he and Charles interpret "Protect the family". Charles is all about using his fists and taking orders because that's the only life he has ever known. But Bruce didn't grow up in that type of rigid environment so half the time, it doesn't even seem like he understands the stakes because he really doesn't. His ignorance is a privilege that his mom fought for him and why Charles is so frustrated with him. If people couldn't even understand THAT then wth have they been watching?? smh.

I really didn’t like his character at first. It was like he was written for a marvel movie while the rest of the show had a completely different vibe. His humor was very Spider-Man. He grew on me though and I think they toned down that humor after the first few episodes.

I'm a Bruce apologist haha. Some of the stuff they wrote for him was kind of dumb (like insisting that Sleepy Chan said LOL in his purely Mandarin message to him) but he made some choices that were both out-of-the-box but totally in-character. He's a good boy making the best of his situation. He's also strong enough to resist his family and stand his ground, even if The easiest thing would be to just enjoy the benefits of being in a crime family lol

yess i will 100% acknowledge that the LOL moment made me facepalm lol.

i loved how empathetic/kind bruce was. like the way he was able to talk down june and charles from a fight. even the little throwaway moments like when he was arguing with the korean registrar about tuition: "you're only doing this to me bc of china's crimes against your country!.... which, okay, fair enough and i apologize!" made me giggle. i loved brucie.
