And it's live! For
@WIRED, I wrote about the illegal fanbindings have led to some writers to delete their works recently-and how that connects to the current pull-to-publish wave and the ever-broadening, increasingly contextless sphere of fic readers:

February 28, 2024 - Several fanfic big fandom authors are announcing that they are pulling their works
- The pull is backlash to the fact that some popular fics are being bound and sold. Some of these copies can go for close to a thousand dollars
- The fanfic authors do not see any profit from this (fanfic is technically illegal since it is violating writers copyright so it gets by by being for free)
- The article talks about the increasingly shady business of authors getting big in fandom, then pulling their work, changing some names and details and then publishing the work
- 50 Shades is the big example of this
- Some fic authors think this, and illegal fanfic binding, betray the fan code of doing it because you love it and only allowing access for free
- Article consults a lawyer who says binding for yourself is cool and totally legal, it's only when you sell it that things become a problem
