Various conspiracy theories have been circulating online since Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, underwent surgery and took time off from her royal duties. Kensington Palace said in January that Kate is recovering from planned abdominal surgery. I find the memes funny, but the actual serious speculation is incredibly gross and offensive, complete with faux concern and demands to know her medical issue??

They released a statement like a month ago saying when she would return. She didn't SUDDENLY go missing, jfc

Yeah I can only get on board with the "she's left William and has fled off to be with a lover" stuff since it's fun and non-invasive.

Nothing about Kate's "illness" has been normal and the way they've handled it is on them. They could end the speculation immediately if they wanted to. Charles was seen going to and coming from the hospital. He's already thanked the hospital workers and issued a photo of himself reading get well cards and thanked the people who sent them. This is the standard for how they handle royal medical issues ( ... )

so the question is, what's wrong with her face that they can't show it? She doesn't even have to be in the same room with a photographer, all she has to do is look out a window.

She doesn't have to do shit while she recovers from major surgery except rest, hope that helps!

Then neither she nor the Palace can complain about the speculation.

You can't have it both ways, not even if your "royal."

Look, I don’t think Will and Kates people are handeling this the best way, from a pr-perspective, but I think that is incompetence rather than something nefarious. Nobody questioned anything until William pulled out of a funeral at short notice without giving a proper explanation, and people started speculating it had to do with Kates health.
But they said from the beginning that she would be absent until easter and easter is still a month away…
Kate probably looks (by her normal standards) like shit and feel even worse. I understand perfectly well if she doesn’t want such pictures out there, especially as the internet lost their minds when she looked ”old” at some event a while ago.

I don't really think anything nefarious is going on, but I also don't believe they're being 100% honest, either. I think the surgery was planned but it hadn't been planned for long, it was more of an emergency situation but they're not going to say that because it would require explanation ( ... )
