I'm so glad I am not a mom so I don't have to look up, plan, and go to stupid shit like this just to entertain my kids

IDK, if this had been a legit event like they advertised, i'd be totally interested, mom or no mom. Like the Van Gogh immersive experience looks cool and i'd like to check it out, so a well done Willy Wonka one would catch my eye too.

Except there are two “immersive” Van Gogh exhibits and one is really bad. So many people have been scammed by that one.

Oh no, which is the bad one? The only one i've heard of is in Miami and i thought it got good reviews, but i haven't looked too far into it.

Interesting. I'd like to see photos of the two because it doesn't seem like too many people have voiced disappointment, just confusion about which one they thought they were getting?

I do see the potential for them to be disappointing if not done right and too driven by profit vs experience. I'd prefer a timed entry so i don't have to deal with crowds taking selfies and obstructing the view.

the bad one is basically like going to a live microsoft screensaver slideshow of his art lol it’s not even a full 360 degrees because the roof doesn’t have screens

https://abc11.com/van-gogh-art-exhibit-experience-tickets/11700622/ One of them definitely has terrible reviews. This one was in an old Planet Fitness but they called it a secret location because they hadn't actually signed the deal when they started selling tickets.

I went to the bad one and yeah can confirm, it is bad like the projections are blurry and stuff

The immersive Van Gogh exhibit in PIttsburgh was straight trash. It was a projector video playing on the walls and ceiling of a giant warehouse room where you sat on the floor. Some of it moved. Not anywhere close to the $40+ they were charging for it.

I think my MIL went to the Chicago exhibit that did the same thing. She liked it. Glad I didn't go.

Apparently, that one may be the ripoff one. A user upthread posted a link to an article about this here: https://wtop.com/entertainment/2021/03/van-gogh-the-immersive-experience-on-sale-friday-for-secret-dc-location/.

The Chicago one is one of the legit versions. I don't see Pittsburgh listed for either exhibition, but the ripoff version is traveling; the legit one looks like a full-time installation. I almost bought tickets to what I now know was the ripoff version and I'm really glad I ended up passing.

there was something like that over here, idk if it’s still there, but it was like 50 bucks and I just dont get it, not my thing I guess. If I’m paying $50, I wanna see a real Van Gogh painting, not lights on the walls, but that’s me

I went to the legit Van Gogh experience and it was amazing!

Same! I went in Melbourne AU and it was on a few different levels, so it was really interesting to watch. You could get a drink at the themed cafe. I also went to another about impressionists that was just as peaceful and immersive.

Maybe I'm just not the type of person who likes these kinda of events but to me this just seems like something to take pictures of for social media
