I saw something saying that "Israel's" song might be flagged for being political, but I do not expect Eurovision to actually do anything about it. They'll continue to let "Israel" do whatever they want.

If an "Israeli" company is a major sponsor and they threaten to pull out I'm sure Eurovision will relax the rules for them.

🇮🇱🎤 Israel Threatens To Withdraw From Eurovision

There are rumours that Israeli singer Eden Golan's Eurovision entry contains references to October 7.

The song is titled 'October Rain'

It is just absolutely insane to me that they have this much power. That the world is bending over backwards to placate them and let them do whatever when the response to Russia was so very different. The hypocrisy is just laughable.

The song is called October Rain, ffs! Even if it's a ~we're strong together, we rise in the face of turmoil~ song, that's still political, all things given. Political and wildly offensive.

It's mad that in the UK people are unironically saying Muslims have control of London and are influencing government when if it was we'd be seeing very different reaction to Gaza.

I honestly think Israel is trying to get kicked out.

I guess they might be worried about the reaction they'll get, but I'm sure they'll say it's all antisemitism if anything actually happens. I feel like they're trying to push the rules to get themselves an exception.

i think they want to get rejected so they can play the victim while avoiding any controversy or protests that could happen if they stay in.

no kan 100% knows that they'll get dqed with that song if they refuse to change it (which they said they already wouldn't) and are probably counting on it for the sympathy they can squeeze out of it, plus it gives them an excuse to not participate for financial and ego reasons in a way that somewhat saves face

plus the ebu as well is probably counting on it so they have the opportunity to remove them this year to minimum backlash because "moral" reasons are subjective to people but if they're explicitly breaking the rules then it's out of the ebu's hands, ultimately it's win-win for both

kan is 100% trying to get kicked out this year because they would probably be spending a shit ton of money they don't have on security and would probably face large scale public backlash that would bring the risk of them embarrassing themselves lol, submitting a song knowing it will get them DQed is a convenient way to generate sympathy and save face (wahhh they rejected our song we're victims) but crucially it also gives the ebu an objective excuse to kick them out with minimum backlash

tbh idk why the indigenous ppl of Israel are in Eurovision anyway, it's a competition for Europeans~ /s

anyone who is a member of the european broadcasting union can participate, which is why australia competes as well.

eurovision participation has nothing to do with geography, whichever countries have a broadcaster with ebu membership are eligible to compete and israel is one of these countries. there are several non-participating countries (morocco and algeria come to mind but there are more) who COULD join up if they wanted but don't for whatever reason

I live in the EU bb I’m aware we have loads of non-EU states in Eurovision lmao

I just was being facetious given the “indigenous” narrative Zionists have been peddling, I thought the /s was enough

honestly though im pretty sure the ebu isn't doing anything about israel because they expect Kan to make a fool of themselves by breaking the rules on purpose so they have an excuse to kick them out without everybody calling them anti-semitic (which will still happen anyway but less so if they're explicitly breaking the stated rules)
