Looking forward to Drive-Away Dolls and the Les Mis re-release! Saw Io Capitano a couple weeks ago, and it was very good.

Last night, we went to see Madame Web, and I genuinely had a great time! Our audience was fairly sparse - maybe 30 people - but we were definitely all on the same page in viewing the film as a comedy. We laughed A LOT! And honestly, it was a lot more self-aware than I was expecting from a lot of the comments slamming it. Like, yes, the villain sucked, the ADR was egregious, and there was no character development. But to me, that describes most superhero movies, except this one was fun?!?! I genuinely loved what Dakota Johnson did with the character... we need more awkward as fuck superheroes. Representation!!! Though I personally cannot relate to not knowing how to open a can of soda. I feel like everyone giving it 1/2 star on Letterboxd did not understand what it was going for, and I am sad for them!!

This weekend, a local theater group is hosting a nitrate festival, so we're seeing Spellbound on Saturday, which will be a new-to-me Hitchcock. Debating on doing a double feature that day as they are also showing Winchester '73, and I love Jimmy Stewart.

Then on Sunday... DUNE 2!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot wait.

Also gonna try to finish off the Doc shorts this weekend, and maybe fit in one of the nominated films we have yet to see, but there are only so many hours in a weekend so idk.

I felt that way a bit about Argylle, but not Madame Web. I wanted to give it a chance for Dakota and Sydney, but I was so bored and barely remember anything about it now.

I love your take of Madame Web. I’ve seen some fun threads on twitter too and I feel like, hey at least it did better than Morbius, feminists unite!

Ps where to watch for Lovely, Dark and Deep is missing

Oooh, enjoy! I haven't seen it in years, but I remember Gregory Peck being next-level fine in it.
